Oh, my. You're going to LOVE Sehnert's newest bread--Ciabatta. {Pronounced chuh·baa·tuh.) What makes it special? First of all, Ciabatta translated from Italian means "slipper". And that's lovely in and of itself.
But on its own merits, Sehnert's Ciabatta is a delicious, chewy bread with some unusual characteristics:
- Consists only of flour, water, yeast, salt, and a little sugar - no additives/preservatives!
- Made with a special 2-day fermentation process. This gives it a homemade yeasty flavor & large holes instead of the normal uniform crumb.
- When toasted, it has a nice crisp bite which makes it very popular at upscale city bakery/sandwich shops {Aren't you fancy now?!}
There are so many ways to use Ciabatta to up your cooking game:
- Artisan sandwiches & as a side for soups and pasta– especially if you Panini or toast the bread
- Want a just-like-you-baked-it-yourself bread? Bake in the oven at 400 degrees for ~8 minutes. This warms the center and creates a fantastic crusty bread. Or how about using it instead of French bread for your Garlic/cheese bread.
- Use as toast in the morning or for an afternoon snack (Are you getting the message how good this bread is toasted/heated?!)
- Hearty French Toast with a chewy bite. Or a make-ahead, French Toast Casserole.
All loaves are made from scratch. Formed by hand. And baked with love.
